Echoing variables to the screen only gets you so far. Xdebug lets you set breakpoints in your editor, step through code line by line and watch every variable change.
What you can do with it
- Find bugs faster by stepping through code
- See full error traces with readable output
- Profile slow pages to find the bottleneck
Good to know
Use it on your local setup only. It slows PHP down and shouldn't be switched on for a live site.
